1.-3. Mai 2009 | Månica Zander & Therese Sunngren

Hoc est Sammentreff

Zander, Sunngren

2-3.5.2009, 12:00-16:00
Opening 1.5.2009, 20:00-22:00

What is reality? Is there something real that is universal? The origins of Månica Zanders and Therese Sunngrens joint project is a mixture of frustration and fumbling to find a personal approach to deal with what sloppily might be called life puzzle.
Since autumn 2007, they have collected fragments, thoughts and glimpses of life in two notebooks sent back and forth across the borders.

In an attempt to understand what constitutes the parameters of what may be called reality, with the strophe "det som är botten i mig är botten också i andra" (what is the bottom of me, is the bottom also in others) from Gunnar Ekelöfs poem "Jag tror på den ensamma människan" are Zander and Sunngren in the exhibition "Hoc est Sammentreff" at gallery Blunk, trying to keep a subjective visual conversation about their observations of reality.

Månica Zander (Gothenburg, Sweden) and Therese Sunngren (Jakobstad, Finland) began their artistic collaboration during their visual art studies at the Swedish Polytechnic, Nykarleby, Finland. In 2006, they did their first joint project, the exhibition "Lost; memory" at gallery Sinne, Helsinki, Finland, and has since continued their active cooperation. Recently, they have been present as participants in the workshop "Art & Text / Art & Practice" with Karlotta Blöndahl at HIAP, Helsinki, and in the internet project "Weather Photos", an international photo project about weather, emotions and communication, initiated by Miriam Songster.
